Our little East TN Luthier Guild is moving along well. We now have 58 members in the database and are looking for more. We recently started the discussion of a project guitar to demonstrate building styles and techniques. The original idea was an acoustic guitar but input has been received that we also need to do an electric and a mandolin, so the idea has definitely taken hold.
Our next meeting will be July 14th @ 2PM at the Knoxville Woodcraft Store. The idea of a project guitar or guitars has got me excited. I have received a lot of input and suggestions about the project and hopefully we can all come to an agreement on what to build and how to undertake the project. The completed guitar or proceeds from the auction of the guitar will be donated to a local charity, to be determined by the participating members.
The store will donate a back/side set for the acoustic build. See what you all have laying around your shops gathering dust that we can use for this build and future builds.
Send me a PM if there are any questions.
Paul

See you July 14 @ 2PM

Good start for the group. Some serious talent and then the rest of us. :-) Great opportunity to see what the local community is doing. Thanks for getting it organized.

I'll be there and looking forward to it. I was planning to bring the size 0 I've been working on but it won't be ready.

I was going too but it has fresh lacquer on it. Too soft. I'll see if I can come up with something.

If you're in the Knoxville area come on by and say hi. Our meeting is at 2pm today, we'll be at the Knoxville Woodcraft store on Kingston Pike.
